She also developed broad categories for classifying what is emerging on the local news landscape … Among those categories, Block by Block activities are designed with four site types in mind: Community, Local aggregator, Micro local and Local niche. Hello Michele! welcome back to the states, super stoked to hear your list is evolving. (And to see you’re also rolling out http://bit.ly/A6j3ej the Knight Community Information Challenge, that is accepting submissions through Feb. 27.) We’re eager to know more and if we can help with anything from the JA’s end to support the list’s next incarnation. We’re curious what your early thinking is around how the taxonomy may evolve? Will there be new categories of publishers or segments based around emerging business models? Let us know if you’d like to collaborate around a think group conversation, we’d be interested in curating or facilitating a discussion to support (or streamline 🙂 reaching out to folks you may be curious to hear from around what they see emerging or ideas they think might be useful to consider. I also have a couple of updates:
1. I am revising the taxonomy – more categories as the landscape becomes more diverse! I will post them and invite your feedback.
2. Also, working with Anna Tarkov, we are updating the list of sites on an ongoing basis. We are eager to hear from publishers who think their sites should be on the list. Please contact me via JA or at michele dot mclellan at yahoo dot com.
